Stuck open and stuck closed are two different emergencies
A door stuck closed is annoying. The house is secure, the vehicles are inside, and unless somebody has to be at work at five in the morning it will keep until a technician can look at it in daylight with the right part on the van.
A door stuck open is a different thing entirely. It is an open wall of your house, usually with a side door into the kitchen behind it, and in most Queen Creek homes with the water heater, the breaker panel and the tools all sitting in plain view from the street. That is worth a call tonight, and it is the call we take most often after dark.
So before you decide anything, note the position of the door, whether the motor makes a sound, and whether there is a visible gap in the spring on the shaft above the opening. Those three facts decide whether this is a tonight problem, and we will tell you honestly on the phone rather than selling you a night rate.
How to secure an open door while you wait
If the opener has failed but the springs are sound, the door can usually be brought down by hand after pulling the release cord, and that is the right answer. Pull the cord with the door fully down afterwards, not while it is up.
If the door will not come down, or comes down and will not stay, do not force it. Instead secure the opening: lock the internal door into the house, move anything portable and valuable out of sight, and if you have vise grips or a C-clamp, fix one onto the vertical track just below the bottom roller on each side. That physically stops the door dropping and takes the risk out of the next few hours.
What not to do is prop the door with anything that can be knocked. A ladder, a bin or a length of timber under a partly open door is how people get hurt, and a garage door section coming down is not something a person stops with their hands.
The two faults that genuinely cannot wait
A cable off the drum with the door up. One side of the door is now held by a single cable and a spring that is already working harder than it should. That door can come down at an angle without warning, and nothing should be underneath it, including a vehicle you would rather move.
A door that has jumped its track while open. The rollers are no longer captured, the panel is twisted, and the only thing holding the geometry together is the part that already failed. Both of these get a truck tonight, and both of them get a clamp on the track before anybody does anything else.
Everything else on a garage door, including a sheared drive gear, a dead logic board, broken sensors and a failed wall control, is safe to leave overnight once the opening itself is secure. A company telling you otherwise at eleven at night is quoting the hour rather than the fault.

What we do on an after-hours Queen Creek call
Secure first, diagnose second, repair third, and we say which of the three we are doing at each point. If a part has to come in the morning, we will tell you that on the phone before we drive out rather than on your driveway afterwards.
Our after-hours work is dispatched from the east valley, and Queen Creek and San Tan Valley are within normal running distance for us rather than an exception. Service call is 35 dollars and buys a written diagnosis. Spring replacement runs 180 to 290 dollars depending on size and cycle rating, and the figure is written down before any work starts, at night as much as in the day.
Arizona ROC338265, bonded and insured, working the valley since 2012. The phone on (480) 405-0909 is answered around the clock, with trucks on normal dispatch Monday to Friday 7am to 8pm and Sunday 8am to 6pm, and after-hours call-out for doors that cannot be left as they are.
Asked by Queen Creek homeowners after hours
Tonight or the morning, and how to secure the door either way
Do you offer emergency garage door repairs in Queen Creek?
The phone is answered around the clock on (480) 405-0909, and we dispatch after hours to Queen Creek and San Tan Valley when a door is stuck open, has a cable off the drum, or has come off its track. If the door is closed and the house is secure, we will usually tell you morning is fine.
My garage door is stuck open at night. What should I do?
Try pulling the release cord and lowering it by hand if the springs are sound. If it will not come down or will not stay, do not force or prop it. Lock the internal door, move valuables out of sight, and clamp the vertical track just below the bottom roller on each side if you have clamps.
The motor runs but the door does not move. What is that?
Almost always a sheared drive gear inside the opener head. The motor spins, the sprocket does not, and the door stays where it is. It is a common and inexpensive repair, and it is safe to leave until morning as long as the door is closed.
Is a broken garage door spring an emergency?
If the door is down, no. Leave it down, do not try to lift it, and book for the morning. If the spring broke with the door up and a cable has come off the drum, that is an emergency, because the door can drop at an angle without warning.
Do you charge more for after-hours calls?
After-hours dispatch carries a call-out premium, and we will tell you the figure on the phone before we leave, not when we arrive. The written price for the repair itself is given before any work starts, at night exactly as in the day.
Call and describe the position of the door
Open, closed, or part way and crooked. Whether you can hear the motor. Whether there is a gap in the spring above the door. Those three answers tell us whether this is a tonight job, and we will say so either way.
