Garage Door Installation in Scottsdale, AZ: Replace the Door or Repair It?
Most doors that look bad can be repaired. Some cannot, and you should know which.
Repair the door if the damage is a part: a spring, roller, cable, opener or one dented panel. Replace it if several panels are cracked or rusted, the frame has bent, or repairs have become frequent. Installation is quoted in writing after a technician measures the opening.

Problems a repair solves
A door that is loud, slow, crooked or heavy is usually a hardware problem. Springs, rollers, hinges, cables and tracks wear out long before the door panels do. Replacing those parts brings a good door back to normal at a fraction of the cost of a new one.

A spring replacement is $180-$290 and the $35 service call comes off the bill if you proceed. Even a door that has been out of service for months is often back to working order in a single visit.
Signs the door itself has reached the end
Several cracked or delaminating panels, rust through the bottom section, a frame that has bent in an impact, or a door that was never well insulated and will not be improved by new parts: these are replacement cases.
One dented panel is different. Many doors let us replace a single section, though the match depends on the model and the age of the door. We check that at the visit instead of promising it over the phone.
What to ask any company about installation
Ask who does the install. Ask whether the new door comes with new tracks, springs and hardware, or reuses the old ones. Ask what the warranty covers on parts and on labor, and ask for the whole price in writing, including haul-away of the old door.
Ask for the contractor license number and check it with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors. Ours is ROC338265. A reputable company expects the question.
Choosing a door for Arizona heat
An insulated door helps if the garage shares a wall with the house or you use it as a workshop. A lighter color reflects more of the sun than a dark one. Windows add daylight but also heat, so think about which side of the house the door faces.
If you live in an HOA, check the approved colors and styles before you order. It is easier to confirm first than to replace a finished door.

Questions people ask us
How do I know if I need a new garage door?
If several panels are damaged, the door is rusted through or the frame is bent, replacement is likely. If the problem is a spring, roller, cable or opener, repair is usually enough.
Can you replace just one panel?
Often, depending on the make and age of the door. We confirm it at the visit.
How much does installation cost?
It depends on size, material and insulation, so we measure first and quote in writing. Repairs and springs are cheaper to price: springs are $180-$290.
Do you install openers with the door?
Yes. We can fit a new opener along with the door, or work with the one you have.
Is there a fee for the quote?
The service call is $35 and it is credited toward the work if you go ahead.
