Reliable Garage Door Spring Replacement in Scottsdale
A spring that was fitted properly is one you forget about for the next eight years. A spring that was guessed at leaves the door dragging within a month and the opener working against itself.
Above All Garage Door Service handles reliable spring replacement across Scottsdale: torsion and extension springs, oil-tempered high-cycle springs where the door earns them, and the door rebalanced and cycle-tested before we leave. AZ ROC338265, owner-operated in the Phoenix Valley since 2012, 5.0 stars from 49 Google reviews. $180 to $290 per spring installed, $35 service call, warranty terms stated when we quote.

Reliable Means It Does Not Come Back
Most people searching for reliable spring replacement have already had one done badly. The door worked for a month, then started dragging, or the opener began straining at the top of the lift. That is almost never a defective spring. It is a spring that was the wrong size for the door, or one that was wound to a number out of a chart instead of to the actual weight of the door in front of the technician.
A spring is a counterweight. If it is matched to the door, the door will hold itself at waist height with the opener disconnected and will not creep up or drift down. That is the test, and it takes thirty seconds. We do it on every job before we pack up.
Torsion, Extension, And Which One Is Over Your Door
Two systems do the same job in different ways, and they are not interchangeable:
- Torsion springs sit on a steel shaft across the header above the door and twist under load. Most Valley doors built in the last twenty-five years use them. They wear more predictably and fail by snapping cleanly, which is the bang you heard.
- Extension springs stretch along the horizontal tracks either side of the door. Older and lighter doors use them. They must have a safety cable running through the coil so a break cannot throw the spring across the garage, and we add one if it is missing.
We carry both. If your door has extension springs and you have been told it needs a full torsion conversion, get a second opinion before you spend that money.
Cycle Ratings, And When High-Cycle Is Worth It
Springs are rated in cycles, one cycle being one full open and close. A standard spring is about 10,000 cycles. A household that opens the door four times a day gets six to eight years out of that. A family with two drivers, a side door nobody uses and the garage as the main entrance can burn through it in four.
For those doors we fit oil-tempered high-cycle springs rated 25,000 cycles or more. The spring costs more, the labour is the same, and the next replacement moves a decade out instead of a few years. We will tell you honestly which category your door is in rather than upselling it by default.
What Gets Checked While The Door Is Open
A spring does not fail in isolation. With the door apart we look at the cables for fraying at the drum, the drums themselves for grooving, the bearings for play, and the rollers for flat spots. Any of those will shorten the life of a brand new spring. If one of them is the real problem, we say so and requote rather than fitting springs onto a failing system.
The door then gets rebalanced and cycled under the opener several times, with the force settings checked, before we call it done.

Questions About Springs, Cycles And Warranty
Where can I find reliable garage door spring replacement in Scottsdale?
Above All Garage Door Service, (480) 405-0909. We replace torsion and extension springs across Scottsdale and the Phoenix Valley, fit oil-tempered high-cycle springs where the door earns them, and rebalance and test the door before leaving. AZ ROC338265, working the Valley since 2012, 5.0 stars from 49 Google reviews.
What is the difference between torsion and extension springs?
Torsion springs sit on a shaft above the door and twist to counterbalance its weight. Extension springs run along the horizontal tracks on either side and stretch instead. Torsion is more common on Valley doors, lasts longer and fails more predictably. Extension springs are the ones that need safety cables through the middle so a broken coil cannot become a projectile.
How long should a new spring last?
A standard spring is rated around 10,000 cycles, which is roughly six to eight years at four openings a day. An oil-tempered high-cycle spring is rated at 25,000 or more and is worth the difference on a door that gets used as the main entrance, or one with an attached casita or workshop behind it.
Why replace both springs if only one broke?
Because the surviving spring has done exactly the same number of cycles as the one that failed. Replacing one puts a new spring next to a worn one, which pulls the door out of balance and usually means a second call within a few months. On a two-spring door, both go on together.
What is covered if the spring fails again?
We warranty the spring and the labour on it. If a spring we installed breaks inside the warranty period, we come back and replace it. The warranty terms get stated when we quote the job, not buried after the invoice.
Does the Arizona heat shorten spring life?
Heat is not what kills springs here. Cycles and corrosion are. What the desert does do is dry out the lubrication on the coils and bearings faster, which makes the spring grind against itself. A yearly wipe-down with a proper garage door lubricant genuinely adds years.
Have A Spring Done Properly The First Time
Call (480) 405-0909 and tell us the door size, whether it is one spring or two, and whether the garage is the door the family uses every day. That is enough for us to bring the right spring and the right cycle rating on the first trip. Above All Garage Door Service, Scottsdale and the Phoenix Valley, AZ ROC338265, since 2012.
